In 1986, he also established PAGKAIN Foundation or Pagkakaisa sa Kaginhawahan at Adhikain which aimed at helping the less privileged through feeding programs, food subsidies and promotion of awareness on wellness, nutrition and health care.
Sec. Lito Atienza never wasted the opportunity of being in the government post to serve the children and leaders of tomorrow! (Feeding Programs and Bigasang Bayan – Murang Bigas para sa Manileno and Launching of Sustansya Atienza ) Sec. In 2004 he launched a successful campaign dubbed as Sustansya Atienza, a feeding and information campaign on using vegetables to address the malnutrition problems especially to the kids. Thousands of kids all over Manila were fed polvoron, soups and fun snacks using malunggay, camote, ampalaya, kangkong, etc as primary ingredients. The program was supported by Manila Social Welfare Department as well as Manila Health and the Division of City Schools – Manila.
